1. Determine which social networks will work for you

    For small businesses, you should first focus on the most used social networks. It's more beneficial to be outstanding on a couple of social networks than being mediocre in all of them, considering that most are free. Not all social platforms will suit your marketing. To assist you in deciding which social media platform to choose from, you should identify where your target audience already hangs out.

 2. Define and assess your goals

  Before you start posting on social, it's essential to define your overall goals and strategies. It may help you shape the way you approach what may become the backbone of your marketing.

                TIPS

  • Be precise in what you want to achieve.
  • Do you want to;
  • -Increase your sales
  • -Promote your brand, products, and services
  • -Improve your customer service
  • -Build up your loyalty

3. Humanize your branding

     People use social media to connect with others from all over the world. Lower your barriers and show your followers who you are and those behind your successful business brand. You should be open, transparent, and genuine in all your communication. Established a unique voice and be authentic. Your fans will want to quickly engage with you and your content and share your content with others. Don't manipulate fans into buying your products and services.

4. Focus on creating loyal, passionate fans and meaningful relationship

     There is fierce competition between individuals and brands, making it hard for all your fans to see you pour your post into their feeds once you publish them. It gets more complicated with time as more businesses and brands are joining social media. It means that you should stop chasing likes, posts, and followers. Instead, concentrate more on producing genuine quality content that will grow you into a loyal following who loves what you do. If you get anywhere between 8 to 12 percent reach to all your fans without promoting or paid ads, you are doing great.

6. Add your social profiles to your email signature.

    How many emails do you send in a day? Each email you send is an excellent chance to let your customer know that you are on social media and share your social media links (in your email signature). For instance, follow your Instagram page for more details about offers on our products.

TIP: Do not force them to like or follow; however, show them why they should and what they will benefit from the action.

7. Know when the best time to publish on social media is

    The truth is, time to post on social media to maximize engagement will differ. People have different recommendations on when to post. Most will say early in the morning, during lunch hour, afternoon, and evening. Others will say late night when there's less competition in people's news feeds (mainly if you have an international audience). There's no specific time to post on social media. The key to finding out when to publish is up to you to experiment. Use the above suggestions, run a few tests for yourself, and develop your strategy until you find what suits your brand perfectly. It all depends on your followers and their availability on social media.

8. Approach your social media channels differently.

    Despite marketing the same products and services, you need to know that different social media platforms have different audiences. For example, LinkedIn is more business-oriented. Its content is more severe, so you cannot copy-paste what you post on Instagram to LinkedIn. Instagram has users who are looking for appealing and social posts.

    TIP: keep your posts unique even if you spread the same

information and message to fit in different platforms.

8. Engage! Engage! Engage!

    Social media is all about engagement (create engaging content), whether social or professional. Social media marketing is not marketing if you are not a hundred percent engaging with your followers. If you don't engage well with your followers, you give your customers the impression that you don't care, making useless all the other strategies and efforts.

 TIP: Keep your customers and followers involved and ask for their opinion.

Come up with unique competitions questionnaires, unique offers, rewards, and discounts.

This tip is the secret behind every successful brand.

10. Check out your competitors

      It doesn't matter what business you're promoting. Chances are, social media has similar and even well-structured companies which are your competitors. By checking what your competitors are offering your target audience, it is a great way to know their strengths and weaknesses to exploit them. I know this is sneaky, but it helps. Go through their content on the social media platforms and see what;

  • -They are offering,

  • -Their services

  • -Their approach on various topics/content

  • -What they focus on

  • -The keywords they use and the hashtags

    With that, you will develop a better strategy, and you will also know what is missing and what to improve on to offer your customers a better experience.

           Thank you for taking the time to read this article. I hope these tips will be of great help in one way or another to boost your social media marketing skills. It's your time to start working towards your goal.
